A Malawian rights activist Sylvester Namiwa of Action Against Political Impunity says they will hold massive demonstrations starting from August 18, 2022 to force president Chakwera to fullfil his campaign promises.
Namiwa who was allegedly abducted on 27th July 2022 and said today that they will hold demonstrations to force President Lazarus Chakwera to attain the promises he made during the campaign.
“The demonstrations, among many other things, aim at forcing President Lazarus Chakwera to deliver on his flagship campaign promises, starting with the scrapping off of presidential immunity and cushioning the vulnerable and the marginalized people in society from the skyrocketing cost of living mirrored through the ever-increasing prices of basic needs such as maize, fuel, cooking oil, bread, sugar and the collapsing economy. “ said Namiwa.
During his statement at the media briefing in lilongwe, Namiwa said the protestors will deliver their petition precisely to President Lazarus Chakwera to raise their grievances.
In his campaign manifesto, Chakwera through Tonse Alliance’s promised a lot of things which among them include the creation of 1 Millon jobs, reduction of presidential power and free electricity and water connection that many Malawians believes have not be been attained by the president.
According to Namiwa, President Chakwera is not living up to his campaign promises hence calling for the massive demonstrations that are believed to force President Chakwera.

I guess the demonstration will be the right thing to do, since talking and watching pple suffer to survive is not enough to make Chakwera fulfill his promises
