FORMER ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER SENTENCED FOR OBSTRUCTION OF PRESIDENTIAL CONVOY


Chief Resident Magistrate Austin Banda has sentence former Malawi electoral commissioner, Linda Kunje to 18 months imprisonment for interrupting Presidential convoy in 2020. 


The former electoral commissioner was nabbed after she deliberately ordered her personal driver, Jones Tewesa to continue driving despite noticing the President Lazarus Chakwera's convoy. 


The two were arrested for criminal negligence hence the conviction. Kunje's co-convict, Tewesa, has been slapped with 15 months imprisonment.

Speaking on the matter, Kunje's lawyer sayz he is planning to file an appeal to the High court citing that the sentence is harsh.
